devICE, splICE BABY or ICE ICE BABY (dï-vïs, splïs, bâbê)
The youngest member of a group, joined by design, to perform one or more functions.
Ice Ice Baby contrast winter season at The Forks with a playful, candy-like installation, the proposal cre-ates a surreal enclosure juxtaposing the interplay of snow (nature) and object (human-artificial).
Ice Ice Baby consists of 100 no.9 pink lifesavers, 49 of them will be displayed as part of the installation, while the other 51 will be given away to visitors (these will be randomly distributed throughout the days and the site.) This whimsical installation of 21.24sqm (2.6m circle radius) will generate a pink at-mosphere due to the transparency of the lifesaver’s material.
Main and secondary structure, studs and foundation are proposed on pine wood of 2”x2”, and at each segment of 28, two lifesavers will be connected.
