History on Tongzhou district recognized that its location was of high importance for Beijing’s water approach being the eastern gateway of Beijing on 195bc, which relates to the brief that Tongzhou will be the largest inland port in the future and will occupy an important position in the future of Beijing.
CONCEPT: HISTORICAL SENSE
SHAPE: SINUOUS SURFACE – WATER
A profound relation to history-historical elements-architecture of the site considers the
Randengfo Sheli Pagoda as part of the design intent and proposal for the Tongzhou tower. This relationship is also formal, the Randengfo Sheli Pagoda general form is similar to the core’s geometry of the Tongzhou tower, each level and details of the Pagoda are considered and extrapolated.

To become a Financial landmark complex Architecture and Interior architecture must relate, the striking and elegant exterior invites high end users, the verticality is accentuated by its form and details.
The proposed interior geometry for the Main Lobby and Sky Lobby maintain a language from sinuous forms which amplifies interior experience, interior illumination and proposes high end materiality with a natural sense to provide a warm and elegant yet classic atmosphere to become a place to work.
CONCEPT: THE PLACE TO WORK
SHAPE: VERTICAL SURFACE
Interior development was articulated through a series of variations with the aim to evoke and provoke a sense of permanence and connection to the natural and organic elements of the architecture. Continuous lines, elements and object morph from a hard to a soft geometry enveloping the entirety of the space. Variations from bended wood elements to vertical single curved elements provides texture and visual references.
CONCEPT: CONTEMPORARY SHIFT
SHAPE: CONTINUOUS SURFACE
The proposal embraces all the main ideas from architecture to design, resonating primarily with the values of human interaction, human experience, polyfacetic and multi-purpose interior, with flexible furnitura able to be removed or re-arranged to allow for a multiplicity of uses such as negotiation areas, coffee space, art display, waiting areas and contemplative zones.
The proposal aims to connect at a higher design level with a functional nature, for Tongzhou tower to become a place to be.
